This week our professor is asking us to write a poem, so i wrote this poem "I Could Not Stop"
I Could Not Stop
why flowers wither
why people are dying
why there is an end
why the sun goes down
But I Can Stop
worrying about them
thinking too much
being negative
being depressed
Everybody Has Up And Down
like the sun goes up
and comes down

Blog 3: "Because I Could Not Stop For Death" P.E.E. body paragraphs
This week we are still working on P.E.E body paragraphs we need to choose the best thesis statement from our classmates so i am going to analyze one more poem with the best thesis statement from my classmate. The poem “Because I could not stop for Death(1890), Emily Dickinson exposes that death is the only sure thing we have, we all have to go through death at some point in our live. The moment to die is going to come whether you feel like you are ready to go or not. At the end of the day is not our decision to make. Death is inevitable and merely a short passage or carriage ride towards eternity.
According to the speakers tone i think she is neutral about death and she seems like accepted it. She is using past tense to describe her life after death. she is having a ride with death. she uses word such as "Civility"(8) to describe death, this word identifies death as a "gentleman".
it is not something that we need to be afraid of. it leads us toward eternity. the speaker uses "we" to describe her and death instead of separating them i think they are already united once you die. it is like a guard that will protect you when you are passing through the path towards heaven.
There is a changing to the pattern of the anaphora "we passed...we passed...we passed..."(9-12) to "we paused"(17) changing the anaphora gives a meaning that the speakers stop to the places where she shared her best moments in life. the house represent her grave where her body rest, but her soul continued the journey.
At the end of this poem the sun sets. it is the end of their journey. the speaker becomes cold. i think this is when she realizes that she is really dead and cannot turn back. however, she is not afraid of it, she is accepting it and she is calm. she finds her peace land in the heaven. there is a new life waiting for her. the speaker knows it is not the end of her life because there is eternity after death.
